00208 klatovy parking house

< 1 / 2 >

A competition entry for a design of a new parking house on Tyršova street in Klatovy on the edge of the city centre. The parking house is designed without any added functionality with correspondingly low construction and operating costs. A simple compact building with an irregular layout makes maximum use of the site dimensions and the function of the structure is easily "readable" thanks to the disruption of its compactness at the point of entry and exit. The parking system (139 spaces, mostly roofed) is based on semi-ramps that follow the sloping character of the terrain and allow easy accessibility of the house. The architectural expression lies in the simplicity and purity achieved using traditional materials – white perforated plaster and brick linings.
