Guanajuato is the capital of a homonymous state in central Mexico located on a plateau 2 000 m above sea level. The initially requested new part of the city has become an autonomous district in our proposal – an independent city with its own system, well-arranged structure and a hierarchy of spaces with their own symbols and orientation elements. The proposed spatial arrangement is influenced by the dramatic topography of the location – the denser development of a lower height (c. 3 floors), growing thicker and higher towards local centres and becoming looser on the peripheries. The rational structure consisting of six house types is completed with a diverse variety of public, semi-private and private space. A large natural park runs across the area as an organic antipole of the development. The proposed communication network provides convenient service for both personal and passenger transport enabling a connection with the surrounding city at several points.
