The area of the market hall is situated on a place/non-place, where the fortifications stood, where the old city meets the new one and various social groups come across: marketers and their clients, parents sitting in the restaurant garden while watching over their kids in the neighbouring magic forest, skaters and their audience, people changing means of transport, visitors of the historical centre and Šantovka.
Just this place can become sort of a joint between various worlds and structures. A joint is characterized by the ability to connect and by the flexibility. The market hall works as a joint connecting by its clearly articulated emptiness two intensively built-up structures: the historical centre and the new developing Šantova district. At the same time it works also as a junction of two city parks. The flexibility is then defined by the variability, by the ability of responding to different events, occasions or seasons.
