00190 town hall and community centre in jeseník

< 1 / 14 >

This competition entry solves the urbanistic-architectonic design of a newly-built town hall and community centre between Školní and Tovární streets in Jeseník. The chosen spatial solution brings a clear order into this currently dismal and chaotic place. The concept consists of three volumes of a different character – the municipal office to the north, the view tower to the northwest and an auditorium with a café to the south – with a protrusive colonnade that completes the overall composition of volumes around the newly-created Radniční Square. The emphasis is on the simplicity and purity of the expression of the buildings – the impression should mainly be made through light and shadow cast by archetypal volumes of the houses. The three main volumes are united by the same material – white plaster, which together with the wooden fillings and tilling give the design a certain “timelessness” and “durability”.
