The Indoor Sports Centre is located to the west of the historic centre of České Budějovice, at the edge of the city park Stromovka, an important sports and recreational locality. The newly-built hall to a large extend respects the location of the existing athletic hall. The competition design presents a compact object consisting of two halls (racing and training), connected by an operational-communication core. The object is horizontally divided into three parts – a plinth, a gallery and a roof. The horizontal motive of an exceeding gallery running around the whole perimeter unweights the overall scale of the hall being enhanced by a console of the training athletic corridor on the western side. The embedded plinth is accentuated by using reflective glassing combined with steel shutters; a roof structure cased with slats crowns the main hall and leads the visitors to the entrance. The hall can be realized in two phases in accordance with the submission.
